May I have a beer May 8th Hamm's American classic beer

So as the weather warms up we return to our old ways we didn't always have fancy houses with air-conditioners and fancy ovens with ceramic tops. We once lived in primitive shelters and cooked over an open fire. So to prove we have not given all of that up, any  chance man gets he heads outside and cooks out. I am no exception. yes I now use  a propane fueled fire but you get the idea. If you are going out on a warm day to stand next to a fire or even a gas grill you need liquids and why not beer? You would not want a high ABU because well if nothing else you could get drunk and burn yourself. I love great flavoured things but as I have said on many occasions I have champagne taste and water money (though these days water is getting expensive). If I am looking for a low cost beer that still as flavour this is one of probably the top three. Hamm's American classic beer. Your Somewhat typical American lager. Unlike it's more known couterparts it has more  flavour and usually costs less. So if you are heading out for a busy day at the grill you could do worse than grab a thirty pack of Hamm's.

Not much official word given about the beer but here it is I also tried to include a video it does take a little longer to load at least on my slow internet you may have better luck.

America’s Classic Premium Lager born in the land of sky blue waters, Hamm’s is brewed in true family tradition from purest water and choicest barley malt, grain and hops. Quality was Theodore Hamm’s fundamental principle which holds to today. Hamm’s Beer has won numerous medals at the Great American Beer Festival®, including gold in 2007 and 2010, and silver in 2002, 2008 and 2009.

May I Have a Beer, May 7th, Leinenkugels Watermelon Shandy

Leinenkugels Watermelon Shandy is brought to you by Courtney a young lady I work with that got this beer to try and decided to share! Thank you very much Courtney.
The first thing I noticed was an aroma of watermelon. It did have a head but the head did not hold. The watermelon aroma did. The beer is very cloudy, the color, light yellow. The taste is slight beer with a distinct watermelon. To be honest though,. a lot of people complain about fruit in their beer. I feel if you look at it with an open mind it is a drink that has a watermelon  taste that just hppens to  be called beer. So if you are looking for a drink this is a nice change. If you want a beer that tastes like beer this might disappoint.

Now the official word:

Leinenkugel’s Watermelon Shandy is a refreshing addition to our Shandy style brewing tradition. It’s our Weiss beer with a hint of watermelon flavor, perfect for relaxing outdoors.

May I Have a Beer, May 6th, New Belgium Accumulation White India Pale Ale

I heard people talking about snow yesterday. I think they were kidding, though it did get down to 41 degrees. In honour of this I will celebrate the lack of accumulation with new Belgium's Accumulation White India pale ale, a light cloudy golden brew that is full of flavour, to take your mind off of whatever nature wants to throw at you. I enjoyed this and I hope you will too. Don't, however, try it because I said you will enjoy it. Try it because you want to find out for yourself. If it is snowing when you try it, relax and let it accumulate. If it is hot and sunny, relax and enjoy a flavourful cold beer.
I do offer some concern upon visiting the New Belgium website. I could not find Accumulation listed. It might be for seasonal reasons, but the info below came from other sources. Let's hope they still brew this flavourful beer.

Official (sort of) word
IPA · 6.2% ABV
Brewing a white IPA was not only a way to salute the white beauty falling from the sky, but a direct revolt to the longstanding tradition of brewing dark beers.
This winter, IBUs start accumulating like snow in Colorado with our new Accumulation White IPA. At least that’s what our rebellious brewer Grady Hull likes to claim as he shovels in plenty of new hop varietals and a bit of wheat for a smooth mouthfeel.

May I have a beer May 5th Payback pilsner.

Let me first say it rained so much today that it would take one heck of a beer to dry my dampened spirits and I am not the biggest fan of a Pilsner. So to say it was alright is as high of a praise as This beer could expect from me. Sure it did have a slightly cloudy golden hue. The taste for a pilsner was good but why settle for ok. Tomorrow lets for better than ok.

Official word:

Payback Pilsner

Our pilsner is an all-day drinker perfect for a rock festival weekend. This lager beer is brilliant with a gorgeous golden hue. We age it for nearly a month using a centuries old process to build a crisp, clean flavor that is perfectly balanced. May I have a beer May 4th ALASKAN Husky IPA

The weather in Ohio is summer winter and spring yes I know most of us have those seasons with autumn thrown in for good measure, but I meant this week. So if my beer selections for may confuses you, you are beginning to experience what Ohio residents are experiencing.  I am a fan of a strong IPA but that does not mean I cannot enjoy an IPA that is confident enough to deliver flavour without trying to overpower the drinker. Alaskan Husky is a Good solid IPA with a pleasant after taste not weak but not too strong. It instead leaves you with a good pleasing taste with hints of fruit in your mouth. Don't mistake what I just said to mean it is a fruity beer. It is more a beer not afraid to have things in addition to hops going on.So even if the sun is shinning Alskan husky IPA is no  dog.

Spring Seasonal: Husky IPA

This IPA has brilliant clarity and exhibits tropical and stone fruit flavors with aromas of tangerine and papaya.

May I have a beer May 3rd Brooklyn lager

OK so it's back to Brooklyn for  a lager. No unfortunately I didn't actually travel to Brooklyn
a shame because I do like to travel. My travel in this case is only in my mind. I don't know what the weather is today in Brooklyn in ohio it is sunny to start the day then as we thought that colder and sunny was OK it started to head into the next metamorphosis Colder and rainy. Yes Ohio weather changes as often as most politicians change their minds.I felt strangely transported when I drank this lager. It was reminiscent of a beer I might have drank when I was younger living in England. The back of my throat and the centre of my tongue all sending questions to the brain saying which pub was it we tasted this in. Thirty plus years had passed since the event so no definitive answer came back. You know what I don't care I like it anyway yes it stirs memories of beers gone by and after reading the official word from Brooklyn brewery I get the idea why the dry hopping process was something I obviously enjoyed many times before when as the song say's "I wore a younger man's clothes". So would I like more of this particular brew  you bet though.I might find myself missing the pub crawls with my friends back in England and the obligatory fish and chips that followed. One last note the beer did not keep it's head very long but then nor did a lot of Henry the eighths wives.

OK so on to the official word.

BROOKLYN LAGER

In the late 1800’s Brooklyn was one of the largest brewing centers in the country, home to more than 45 breweries. Lager beer in the “Vienna” style was one of the local favorites. Brooklyn Lager is amber-gold in color and displays a firm malt center supported by a refreshing bitterness and floral hop aroma. Caramel malts show in the finish. The aromatic qualities of the beer are enhanced by “dry-hopping”, the centuries-old practice of steeping the beer with fresh hops as it undergoes a long, cold maturation. The result is a wonderfully flavorful beer, smooth, refreshing and very versatile with food. Dry-hopping is largely a British technique, which we’ve used in a Viennese-style beer to create an American original

Style: American Amber Lager

Malts:
American 2-row, Munich, Crisp
Hops: Ahtanum, Cascade, Saphir, Vanguard, Hallertauer Mittelfrueh
Alcohol by Volume: 5.2%

May I have a beer may 2nd Victory winter cheers.

Yesterday we had a Scorcher from Brooklyn. Today we are having a Winter Cheers from Pennsylvania. Yes I am in Ohio one day it might be so hot you have the windows down driving to work thinking I wish the  air conditioner  was more effective, the next windows up wishing you had brought your coat. So if the idea of going from a summer session ale to a winter beer confuses you you have not lived here!
This beer is a good wheat beer but is given the addition of light fruit and spice flavours that make it a winter treat although my other reviews will reveal better and stronger flavoured beers, if this beer was sitting there waiting for the question "May I have a beer", I would still ask the question and drink the beer but remember this is not a session beer coming in at 6.7% ABV it might warm the cockled of your heart, it might also impair your ability to operate machinery.

May I have a beer. May 1st sort of, Brooklyn brewery "scorcher IPA"

Ok so I decided to set myself a challenge and the first day I am late with it.
The challenge to write a review of a beer each day in may.
The reasons for the challenge are many fold. First it will hopefully force me to be more productive on the blogging. It will hopefully give you the reader more to examine and do part of what I hoped the Blog will do which is encourage people to try new things in the world of food and drink. Also May is getting warmer and we all need to drink more (yes my wife would say but it doesn't have to be alcohol. I say but it can be).

So on such short notice or at least preparedness, the first thing my hand fell on was the Brooklyn brewery "scorcher IPA".
I am going to do part of the review now and then add an extension or amendment later. The reason for not doing the full review now is I did not chill the beer, so it is at house temperature not I would expect the brewers intended drinking temperature.
The bottle is  standard brown the label has a black background with white writing and yellow and gold accents this complements the golden brew inside. the beer is slightly foggy just enough to add intrigue and to separate it from standard mass produced urine type beers (you know which ones I mean). The head was good but did vanish quickly.  People that have read enough of my beer posts will know I do not like boring beers and that I do like IPA's etc. This was not boring but was a lighter IPA than most of my favourites. I describe SAM Adams rebel  ipa as a good way to ease into IPA's, the same could be said of this enough regular beer taste without  hitting you over the head with the hops. It does still leave you with flavour and not just a wet mouth and a stomach full of gas.
At only 4.5 ABV it could be a good choice for a hot Day in Brooklyn or Texas, Florida or even Ohio.

Ok so it is slightly better chilled though this is not essential to tell it is a good session IPA. So the answer to the question for MAy first  yes you may have a beer infact have another it is a session beer after all.

Now the official word on this session IPA
Brooklyn Scorcher IPA is a surprisingly sessionable IPA. A floral, piney aroma strikes first, followed by a burst of mouthwatering bitterness as the hops begin their attack. Suddenly, a hint of toasty malt and a clean, lively finish burst in to leave you thirsty for more. It’s ludicrously tasty, and at a reasonable 4.5%, it’s a beer you can come back to again and again. Try it with spicy foods, salads, grilled meats, cheddar, feta or just another Scorcher IPA.
